The SDX-4DVision is Sodex Innovations’ excavator-mounted system for instant site documentation. Rather than sitting on the roof, its laser scanners and cameras mount under the boom, positioned to look directly into the trench or excavation as the machine digs.
The system captures millions of measurements per minute to build a georeferenced point cloud, model of the excavation area, automatically processes the data as soon as the scan is finished, and sync it to SDX-Cloud for same day availability to project managers and other stakeholders.
Works With What You Already Run
SDX-4DVision leverages the machine’s existing control setup (Trimble Earthworks) and is easy for the excavator operator to initiate. This enables crews to document completed work steps quickly and reliably without bringing in a separate survey team, creating a traceable digital record of terrain, utilities, and executed work in minutes. The system consists of a LiDAR scanner and a camera for point cloud colorization and image documentation, but it can be configured as LiDAR-only for use cases where point cloud data alone is sufficient.

Documentation and Installation in One Pass
Compared to traditional as-built workflows that rely on dedicated survey crews, manual measurements, or delayed documentation, the SDX-4Vision makes as-built capture a practical, repeatable part of everyday operation. Colorized point clouds give crews and clients clearer insight into completed work: utilities can be measured directly from the model without a return trip, quality control and documentation collapse into a single step, and following crews have all the information they need to keep the project going.
